Oh, Canada?

Well it has been an interesting couple of weeks. Just so everyone knows, we are for sure going to Calgary. We are looking to be out of here no later than the 15th of April. That is when we told the couple who is watching our house that they could move in. Jeff will actually be going on Monday for two weeks and then flying back to come and help us pack and get moved up there. We are still not sure where we are living because someone in the company is basically in charge of that. We told them what we would like and hope they find those things within the budget they have given us. So in the mean time we have been trying to get some things done on the house before we go. Luckily, it has been really pretty nice here and we have been able to do some things in the yard. One of the things that we did was have our apple tree in the back trimmed and had a huge ugly juniper pulled out of our front yard.

This is the hole it left in the ground. It doesn't look like much but we are not sure what to do with it now. It is nice not to have that monstrosity there anymore. It was pretty horrid and going into the neighbors yard.
Also about two weeks ago my mom decided to come and visit me. She is has the ability to fly free and so up she came. It is has been so fun to have her here. Jane has taken some time to warm up to her. It seems that Jane decided lately that she only wants her mom (her dad is not too happy about it). We have been watching movies, taking walks, doing puzzles and just talking and hanging out a lot.
Well then about a week ago my sister Rachel and 2 of her kids came into town. She is a midwife and came to help deliver some twins for a woman out here.

My niece Mabel just lover her Nana.

Mabel has been having such a fun time with Jane. She plays with her all of the time and her and Dean have been making Jane laugh a ton. The only problem is that my sister and Mabel got sick just when they got here. So they have been doing a lot of sleeping. You can tell a little in the pic with my mom that mabel is just not feeling good. They are both coughing and have congestion. We keeping hoping that Jane doesn't get it. She hasn't so far, except that she has had kind of goopy eyes. Nothing else so far yet.

My sister will probably not be very happy about me posting this picture, but oh well.

Mabel brought a bunch of her own toys and dolls. Her favorite thing to do is to have Jane sit on the floor and surround her with the toys. As you can tell, Jane is really sitting up well on her own. She can sit for long periods of time without falling.

This is the Jane picture of the week. I know she is not smiling or anything but she just looks so dang cute.
So if anyone wants to talk to Jeff, you had better call him this weekend or you may not be able to talk to him for 2 weeks. Even after that we are going to figure out what to do about having a phone and such once we get up there. We will let everyone know how to get a hold of us. Also, anyone is welcome to come and visit us once we are there :)

6 Months

I just can't resist this post. Today it has been 6 months since Jane was born. I can't believe it. Time has gone by so fast. It seems like just yesterday when I was laboring for 17 hours to get her out. Let me just say that although the labor and delivery were really hard, it was worth every minute. She has been such a blessing to us. For those who are not on Facebook here are some pics I took about a month ago.

Hi everybody. I started off with this image because I wanted to let everyone know that as of April 1st, Kim and I will be shipping off to Calgary for 6 months in an effort to help out some oil and gas folks with water treatment. This image is in Banff, which is just outside of Calgary, and because it is so beautiful, you should all make sure you come and visit us while we are up here. My company really needs me up there, I guess, because they are offering to cover our rent at a furnished apartment, a monthly rental car, a per diem to cover the supposed higher cost of living. It'll be a really good opportunity for my career and probably less convenient for Kim, but Kim is looking forward to it also. Incidentally, my resume is on a project proposal in the Netherlands. I hope that yields a trip to Europe :) And just a few weeks ago, I was worried about being forced into part time due to low billability.

So I don't know when it began, or how it evolved to what it is today, but Kim makes up songs all of the time for Jane. Usually the lyrics are relatively the same theme and they usually end up with the phrase "my cutie little sweety baby girl." There are many variations of this song, and sometimes they are about diapers being really wet, or about changing diapers or nursing. The sad thing is how infectious some of these melodies are and how terribly bad they are at the same time. It reminds me of that "Total Eclipse of the Heart" song which I hate, but now as I typed it, I am hearing, "Turn around bright eyes" over and over in my head and I can't seem to shake it. Not only that, but I find myself singing similar songs for Jane, also. Most of the time my lyrics revolve around the phrase "My little baby girl." Sometimes the phrase "Baby girl" turns into something that sounds more like, "Bubba guh" like I have a speech impediment or something. It's amazing what we will do to get babies to smile, but how could you resist?
Not much else going on this week except Kim's Mom is visiting us and being extremely helpful around the house. Both Kim and I feel lucky that we don't have the stereotypical "mother-in-law." Our MIL's are great!

That is all this week.

Love,

Jeff and Kim
