Did Steve tell you that?.......Steve

I think that only Christy and Dan might get that title of this blog but I thought I would do it anyway. It is apropos though as Steve Brown (Jeff's best friend) was here visiting last weekend. He did tell me some stories about the Miners. Oh good stuff. Well Steve's wife bought him a plane ticket out here for Christmas to go skiing with Jeff. He flew in late Friday night and then they left really early Saturday to go skiing. There are no pictures of that because Jeff hasn't gotten the whole taking pictures thing yet. It is still my responsibility so unless I am there we have no documentation :) They had a really good time but came home really tired. Besides the skiing we mostly just hung out, talked and watched movies. Steve and Jeff did stay up pretty late most night chatting like a couple of girls. Jeff took monday off and so we went out to breakfast.
This is the only picture of them together this weekend.

This is what Jeff got to eat. Scary. Luckily he didn't finish it.

This is what I got. Not to brag or anything but I wouldn't die from eating this :)

Many of you haven't seen Steve in a while and he has lost some weight and expanded his wardrobe. He wanted to look really good when we went to the movies. We saw the movie Unknown. It was pretty alright.
Besides the visit from Steve we just had a sick Jane. She was coughing still but has gotten over it now. Just when she was getting better, I was at my friends house and was hold Jane and tripped. She slammed her head into the hard wood floor. It was really sad. Luckily my knee and elbow broke the fall so it wasn't from really high.
I guess most every mom has to have this experience at least once. The swelling went down quickly and was almost gone by the night time. It is just a little red still now. It is a good thing that babies are so resilient.  I felt so horrible though. Well here is the Jane picture of the week.

As we saw before, Jane can put here whole hand in her mouth. Apparently she can do that with her feet too. She is very talented.
We are enjoying a little bit of nice weather here. It is funny how if it is over 50 degrees then it is nice and we can go out without a coat. I never thought I would be one of those people but I guess I am. Some lady at church said that other day that after March 1 then all is good weather wise here in Colorado. So we have that to look forward to.
Oh and the title of the post is from a Flight of the Concords songs. In case you were wondering.

Valentines Day

So Valentines day this year was a lot of fun. They only one who missed out was Jane cause she can't eat candy or steak. Poor Jane. Anyways, here is a picture of the delicious food I made for Kim (with her limited assistance - she just can't stay out of the kitchen)

It was pretty much delicious. The meal is garlic and rosemary potatoes (one of my specialties), flank steak with chimichurri sauce (made of parsley, cilantro, rosemary, garlic, olive oil, and lime juice). The broccoli was just steamed broccoli with pepper. My other valentines gift for Kim was cleaning the master bathroom. For some reason, cleaning stuff is a big hit with Kim.

However, Kim once again outdid me with the gifts this year. Her's took me back to my college days and made me feel like she had a crush on me and wanted to take me to MORP.

Unfortunately, Jane and Kim are both sick with a cold, I think. Jane will have these coughing fits where she coughs and coughs for like 5 minutes straight. We think she is coughing up stuff and then just inhaling it back down. She doesn't know what to do with it. She hasn't had a fever or anything so we haven't worried too much about it. But we both get worried when she coughs for so long and I start asking Kim "how long before we take her to the doctor? If I go by my mom's standards, she needs to cough up some blood before we take her to the doctor (love you, Mom :) ). Jane still acts happy and smiles a lot. She especially smiles a lot when I get home, which, of course, I love.

Denver has really warmed up this week, which is unfortunate because Steve Brown is coming to town to go skiing. I think the snow will be slushy at this temperature. Which is a welcome change from the below zero weather we had the week prior. Kim actually took Jane out in that weather, but she was dressed very warm.

That is all for this week. Love,

Jeff and Kim

Paranoia

There are so many great things about Jeff. He is such a good guy and is really perfect for me in so many ways. There is one way in which we are really different. Most of you know that Jeff tends to be a worrier, especially when it comes to his health ("my face is tingling, my face is tingling" thanks for that Dan). I tend to be on the other side of the spectrum and can't be bothered with worrying about much of anything. Well at least that is how I was until I had Jane. Now I have the first time mom worries and I feel a little ridiculous about it most of the time.
So yesterday Jane developed a little cough. When I say little I am not exaggerating. She probably coughed only a half dozen times. I make this point because my thought process does not match what is actually going on. In the middle of the night she was coughing a woke up me as well as Jeff. It went on for only a minute or so. I then fell back to sleep and found myself dreaming about terrible things happening to her. Look at this face though, how could I not be worried.

I keep reminding myself that she is not acting any different and things like that. So why am I posting about this? Well two reasons I guess. Firstly, I can understand more of what it is like to be in Jeff's head when he has a little pain. Although, I don't act very understanding in those moments, I can understand a little. Secondly, how does everyone else deal with this worry? I don't think I am on my own here as a mom. Is there any hope that I will stop thinking like this? What can I do?

The first post

So here we are in the blogosphere. As one of his new years resolutions, Jeff decided he wanted to do a weekly or biweekly family letter as some of his family members do. We you see that has not happened yet. I thought that this would be easier and we could both post on here. We will try to keep up on some of the things we are up to lately and post pics as well. I will try to not make this blog all about how freaking cute Jane is, but it will be very hard because she is so cute. So here are some recent happenings.
A couple of weeks ago it decided to be nice weather here and so we took advantage and went on a hike with some friends.
As you can see the river is still kind of frozen but is was mid 60's

These are our friends James and Camille and their son Jacob. He is one month older than Jane although he was supposed to one month younger. We do a lot of stuff with these guys so get used to hearing about them.

That was the weekend of our birthday. After the hike, Jeff got a massage because that is what he wanted for his birthday. Then we went out to eat with some friend. Jeff surprised me by inviting friends without my knowledge. He also let us get sushi with he never wants to get and I love. It was really delicious. We then went out for ice cream. We didn't do much on the day of our birthdays as it was Sunday.

This last weekend we went to Utah for the Miner brothers annual ski trip. I went along as it is an excuse to see my family. I went skiing once with them a couple of years ago. It was pretty miserable because I tried snowboarding for only the 2nd time so I decided that I would just let them to it. Now I can just visit my family instead. Jeff neglected to take any pictures of their skiing but said he really loved it. They got a great deal and so went to the Canyons the first day and Brighton the second. Jeff kept saying on our drive home how much he loves being with this brothers. It was really cute. I just hung out with some of my family and didn't do much of anything, except get a hair cut (which I always do when in Utah). Overall it was a good weekend despite the drive. Jane is not in love with her carseat and is not one of those babies who just falls asleep in the car, sadly. That is about the jist of things now. More later.
