Drive PT 2

It has taken way too long for me to get this up but here we are. So we made our way to West Yellowstone. We had a few stops along the way and the drive was very pretty. We also saw this.

A real cowboy herding his cattle along the road. It is not very often that you see this. I have to say thought that I felt really super touristy taking this pic. We stayed in the town of West Yellowstone that night and woke up early to take in as much of Yellowstone as we could. Here are some of the highlights.

This is Old Faithful. It was only steam really that we saw because it was just cool enough that steam covered up the water.

Lower Falls

Upper Falls

This is the majority of the things we saw here. It was really nice. Again the fall colors made it all the more beautiful. We didn't really see much wildlife though which was disappointing. We might have seen a buffalo from a distance but that is it.
On our way out of the park we stopped at another lake to eat before we drove a couple of hours.

We had some complications on our drive after we left the park. We looked at the map and picked a town that was a couple hours a way that would be good to stop at and get Jane to sleep. Well we arrived at the town and there was nothing there. I don't know if you could call it a town even. I mean there was a gas station and maybe a bar. So we hadn't eaten, it was time to get Jane to bed and we don't know what to do. So we look at the map and the next closest place on our way is Casper. So we decide to drive two hours to Casper. It was kind of a pain but we finally made it and got to bed.
The next day we only had about 4 and a half hours left. That was the only nice thing about driving to Casper the night before. So we just drove and drove. We pulled into our house about 2 pm on Tuesday. We spent the rest of the night unloading and moving furniture back upstairs. Thanks for James and Camille for helping us so much. I just have to say that we are so happy to be home. Sometimes it is good to get away so you can really appreciate what you have. I do have a new appreciation for things. I am sure that as time goes on that it will wear off but I hope not too soon.

  2. What a great trip! I love the one that looks like Jane is crawling down the road. I just had this thought of her racing down the street and it made me chuckle.
